Seven Loyola runners set career PR's on Saturday morning.
The Loyola University New Orleans cross country team hit the road on Saturday morning to take part in the Jacksonville State University Foothills Invitational in Jacksonville, Alabama.
A number of Wolf Pack runners logged impressive performances on Saturday, highlighted by seven lifetime PR'S and nine season PR's between the two programs against stiff competition from all collegiate divisions.
Recording a score of 231, the Loyola men's team took eighth in the 11-team field, while the women's team did not record a team score on Saturday.
Anthony Rizzi (SO/Chicago, IL) was the top finisher for the Wolf Pack men on Saturday, setting a career 8K personal record with a time of 27:41.9 to take 75th in the 161-runner field. Brian Davis (SO/New Orleans, LA) also logged a career PR on Saturday, finishing the 8K course in 28:21.2 to claim 93rd. Austin Palmore (FR/Milton, Ga.) (131st) and Hernan Espinal (SO/Baton Rouge, LA) (136th) both also clocked career PR's on Saturday, cross the line in 32:06.3 and 32:36.8, respectively.
Melvin Bergeron (SO/Houston, Tex.) was the final Loyola finisher for the men, taking 147th in a career personal best time of 35:55.3.
On the women's side, Tristin Sanders (FR/Henderson, Nev.) claimed 84th in a 5K career PR of 20:36.5. Kendall Rene Lane (SO/New Orleans, LA) (132nd) clocked a season best 23:12.6, while Shannon Hester (SO/Bayonne, N.J.) (137th, 23:57.5) and Alma Guerra-Gonzalez (SR/Terrytown, La.) (138th, 24:15.0) each recorded season best times.
The Wolf Pack will hit the course again on Friday, Oct. 7, at the Watson Ford Cross Country Invitational hosted by Mississippi College. Action from the Choctaw Trails is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
