Wolf Pack head coach Nick Dodson and the Loyola University New Orleans cross country team welcomed over 200 collegiate and high school runners to Lafreniere Park on Saturday for the second annual Allstate Sugar Bowl Cross Country Festival.
Despite tough course conditions, the Wolf Pack clocked in some impressive individual finishes against competition from nearly all college divisions.
For the men, Anthony Rizzi (SO/Chicago, IL) was the top finisher for Loyola on Saturday morning, crossing the line in 15:33.1 to take home 18th. Brian Davis (SO/New Orleans, LA) recorded the other top-25 finish for the Wolf Pack men, claiming 25th with a time of 15:53.3.
Tulane featured three of the top four runners in the men's division, including Emmanuel Rotich who took the 5K crown with a time of 14:13.0.
Making her Wolf Pack debut, Tristin Sanders (FR/Henderson, Nev.) took 27th place in 19:10.5 to lead the women's squad. Jordan Elissa (SO/Dallas, Texas) grabbed 49th with a time of 22:30.5 and Kendall Rene Lane (SO/New Orleans, LA) claimed 51st after crossing the line in 22:43.7. Alma Guerra-Gonzalez (SR/Terrytown, La.) wrapped up Wolf Pack finishers on the women's side, completing the 5K course in 22:54.2 to take 52nd on Saturday morning.
Tulane featured the individual winner of the women's side as well, with McKenzie Meluis grabbing the 5K crown in 17:31.0.
Loyola heads to Georgia on Saturday, September 17, to take part in the SSAC Pre-Conference Meet hosted by Dalton State.
